Greetings From Hendersonville, NC............

Well, we are finally settling in from our big move. We have been tucked away in a cozy cabin in the trees of Flat Rock, NC eagerly awaiting the move into our new home on the 20th of November. I am so excited and can't wait to get my studio up and running again. It is going to take time and patience I know. Lordy did I have a lot to pack up. I can't believe Thanksgiving is around the corner. I have so much to be thankful for this season. Thanksgiving Blessings to All.

Great News - We Are Moving.............

A big move is under way. It is time to say goodbye to the gorgeous Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and sweet town of Woodstock and hello to Hendersonville, NC. We have sold our dear-ole farmhouse and are moving on. It is a great time to buy - crazy low mortage rates and house prices are still low. I am up to my eyeballs in boxes and swimming in a sea of paper and bubble wrap. So much work but wonderful rewards ahead! Hendersonville, NC is just outside of Asheville - gorgeous mountains and a thriving Arts community. The kids are excited about the change and hubby and I are too. I will be taking a break until we get settled in our new home mid-November. What a magical time to move - golden trees, crisp Fall air and Winter's chill just around the corner. Fall blessings to all.

Thank You from the Country Living Show...........

A BIG thank you to all for making this a fabulous show! I met so many wonderful people. Got to see some old friends and make some new friends. It was great to visit with return customers and enjoy making new customers too. It was a fantastic show and I am looking forward to next year!
Here is a shot of some of the mixed media pieces and some of my assemblage doll ornies!
My sister-in-law is the best!!!! I couldn't do it without her. Hubby was home with the kiddos so it was just us two tackling it all!
These gals got lots of laughs with those Ta-Tas
Dear friends - yes I agree an odd duo but they enjoyed the antique buggy
I think all of my Halloween items scattered about the booth were gone by 11am on Friday morning! It was a crazy busy early bird opening!

So again, a great big THANK YOU to all my customers, friends, and family for making this an awesome show!

Sneak Peeks for the Country Living Fair

Sir Bennett and his ladies eagerly await the show in all their finery.
Here is a quick peek at some things I haven't boxed up yet. I have gotten back into collage and mixed media works. This was a focus and major passion of mine many moons ago when I was in college. It felt so good to branch out a bit and explore textures in a new way again. Texture and textiles are my love - whimsy is a must!
I hope to see you at the fair when the "the pages of Country Living Magazine come to life"
Fall Blessings to all

Inspired by New Trinkets and Fall colors

This has been an emotional and challenging Summer for me. From a family wedding to a family death. From a healing memorial to a dear sister-in-law's fabulous 50th birthday. A traveling husband, reunited with a dear niece I haven't seen for years that has now become an amazing little lady instead of the little girl I held dear to my heart. I have seen pain and sorrow in my beloved brothers eyes that is so lost right now and trying to accept that I am powerless to the changes he must face to have a functioning life. Time and emotions have been stretched to a near breaking point for me. From tears of pain to tears of joy and laughter, I have chosen to just embraced it all and feed my spirit and grow. It all builds character and humbles me to peace. I must do my mental therapy - create !!!!!!!  I have seen cancer's ugly handy work ravage another family member and have so much anger. Cancer is evil.

Little Women

Oh what fun creating these little ladies!
They will be dangling in my vintage cream colored feather tree
at the Country Living Fair in the Fall. Wow - it's just around the corner.

A few posts ago I introduced the start of "Willie the Weirdo"

What can I say, you just never know what will manifest!
I just adore her. I am beginning to hold on to my creations  for the Country Living Show in September. If you are interested in Willamina, just email me. She won't be listed on Etsy.

What is on the table tonight??

And you thought it was food!!! Ha
I have been so eager to make something with this new fabric I picked up on my last trip to North Carolina. It is gorgeous and luxurious in it's feel and color palette. So a jacket it is for this chap!
Ta Da! Now for the fitting. I can't wait to get to the hat!!!! Oh, you know that is my favorite part! I am all about coats, jackets and hats!
The antique button on the top of his vest has the initials G.B. - I will need to think on this ole chaps name. Maybe Sir Gerald Barnabis ?? or Geoffery Buckhorn.  So silly - stay tuned...............

Wee Willie Wierdo - Pumpkin man in the works.......

I just love this guy! Pumpkin headed and Halloween odd dolls are my all time favorites to create. Meet "Wee Willie Weirdo" Hmmmm, I wonder what the rest of him will look like. I've stabbed my finger so many times today it's crazy. Gotta love using the kids Spongebob band-aids.

Yep, That's Me..............

Yes, This is me............... running chicken with my head cut off. Lol!!!! We made the big decision to put our house on the market with plans to move to North Carolina so there has been a lot of cleaning and de-cluttering ( as if that is possible when you are an artist) The kids have just a few weeks left of school and there has been lots of weekend activities! Phew, I'm pooped! Tonight I am carving out time to get into the studio and shut the doors -  back to work and focusing is a must with shows in the Fall. Argh!! I am sometimes not the best juggler but it is "one day at a time" right??? OK, yes really this is one of my beloved chickens Miss Magnolia Pearl making a run for it as my soon to be 4 year old son Eli is chasing her. Wow, the Shenandoah Valley has been a beautiful piece of heaven for us here - it will be a bittersweet move when the time comes. Peace and Love to all.

Getting Back to Work................

Scattered and distracted is my middle name these days. It's time to get back to basics. I need to get back to my roots of what makes my creative pulse beat.
Fabric always gets me inspired!

Button,Button my Favorite Button..................

This is one of many favorite buttons I have in my special collection. The details of the silver inlay bird are amazing. I wanted to be able to enjoy it and not have it stashed away out of site. This is my solution! I can
celebrate it by wearing it and also share my passion for old barrel keys. Rustic Romance!

Thanks for Playing, Her Name is.......................

Miss Raven Wildwood
I loved all the names that people came up with both here in blog world and in Facebook. Some I loved so much, they will pop up in future creations. This name is a combination of two different name ideas.
I think it suits her perfectly.
Thanks so much for playing!

Help me name her ....................

Finally finished up some details on her coat and having trouble with a name. Hmmmmm, any ideas? I just love her wispy blonde locks.

Abracadabra !!!!!

 Drum roll please............................
TA     DAAAAAA!

All the girls know that Miss Mighty B would be the best momma. They all seem to lay in the same box so she can sit on them. She is sooooo sweet.
Ok, so beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I just think she is adorable!

Thinking of Spring and Rose Colors...............

Lady Rose Duport
Adorned in her best frock eagerly anticipating Spring.
I should have taken a photo of just the rose tapestry fabric I used in the hat and upper coat sleeves. It is a gorgeous material!!!
The Crocus flowers have emerged from the ground here in Woodstock Virginia. A little tease that Spring is around the corner.

The Trouble with Hannah...................

The trouble with "Hannah" is that I just can't seem to get the last details finished. I still need to do some hand stitching on her hat and shoes. Maybe I'm stalling because I just lover her so. Yes, she is a big gal as she sits so happily in my rocker. She is also rag stuffed  - I love picking up a doll and feeling some good weight to it.
The vintage lace I used to trim her dress bodice is gorgeous. Vintage and hand tatted.
Her shell buckle is from an old stash of my grandmother's sewing things. I guess it was just time to celebrate it again.
 Love these colors and textures!
OK Hannah, you win. You can definitely stay awhile. Boy she was a lot of work! A true labor of  LOVE.

Finished Playing. Should I Keep Going? What Do You Think???

Moth Maiden - Mixed Media storage basket

-M- is for Mermaid
I have always had a soft spot for Mixed Media dolls. Assemblage and mixed media was a focus for me back in the early 90"s (college). I love the textures and the unexpected. What do you think of these dolls? Honestly!
